What is it with these Germans and their love of a vintage caravan. Indoors?! A couple of months ago we featured the Huettenpalast Hotel and now hotelier Michael Bonner has transformed a vacant warehouse in Germany into a faux-campsite with 15 funky restored caravans, together they create a playful and inviting indoor landscape. Individually, each caravan has been coaxed back into full retro glory and given its own identity. Called Basecamp Bonn Young Hostel, it’s a fabulous way to satisfy any Winter camping urges you might have.
There’s ‘Big Ben’ with a British flag and victorian-style seating outside. Two historic U.S. airstreams and as two railway cars from Deutsche Bahn trains which are furnished with retro accessories, and can shelter small student groups. You can stay in the Hostel for as little as EUR 54 per night, with prices varying according to size and sleeping space.
